Case studies
Here we showcase some of the great work we've done for our clients. To look at our in-house research and development, please go to the labs.
PrintJob
We've been doing a lot of server administration and behind-the-scenes heavy lifting at PrintJob - a Software as a Service solution for the commissioning of printables.
First, we had to recreate the backup procedure from scratch as it was failing. The mission critical data from all three application servers is now silently and efficiently being copied over to the backup server.
Next we had to merge the three similar-but-different codebases from each application server into a single, unified codebase. A gargantuan effort, but now there is a single reference codebase for all bug fixes, new developments and deployments!
Then we had to look at some less well performing parts of the system. Using the right debugging tools and a sprinkle of database knowhow, we managed to get some important parts of the system (like logging in and the checkout flow) down to single-digit seconds from double-digit seconds!
What they said: "The developer guys really value your work!"
Swell UK
We've been doing great things over at Swell UK in Hyde, Tameside - a massive online retailer covering pond supplies, pet supplies and even reptile supplies!
First off was an automated dispatch label printing system to speed up the labelling - and therefore dispatch - of customer's orders. This used to be a time-consuming process, but can now be done at the click of a button. The warehouse manager is pleased, he's spending on average one day a week less on labelling!
Next we completely automated the in-house ordering system. Current levels of stock and customer orders are looked at in realtime to create supplier orders automatically. What use to take a full day is now finished in minutes!
Then we implemented live stock availability information and back in stock alerts on the websites. The customers really like it and orders are up! Interestingly this also enables next day delivery as all ordered items are in stock.
More recently we've streamlined the order picking and dispatch process by unifying everything down to one sheet of paper - a delivery note. Orders are now picked and boxed up to 50% faster than previously. Printing one sheet of paper instead of the previous three is also a nice green bonus - not to mention a money saver in itself!
What they said: "It's pat on the back stuff, it really is!"
